Privacy Policy

Effective date:

1. What WeatherDesk Does

WeatherDesk changes your Mac's wallpaper based on local weather conditions, sunrise and sunset times, and holidays. It is a wallpaper app, not a weather forecast app, and it does not play continuous animations.

2. Location Data

WeatherDesk requests your approximate location solely to fetch local weather and sunrise/sunset times from Apple Weather. Location is requested only when weather needs refreshing (every 30 minutes at most) and is never used for continuous tracking. We do not store, share, or sell your location; the request is made directly from your Mac to Apple Weather.

3. No Personal Data Collection

WeatherDesk has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking identifiers. We do not collect your name, contacts, documents, browsing history, or any other personal information.

4. Local Storage

Your preferences (launch at login, language, holiday wallpapers, pause state) and the latest cached weather snapshot are stored locally on your Mac inside the app container. Wallpaper images are bundled inside the app. Uninstalling the app removes all stored data.

5. Third-Party Services

Weather data is provided by Apple Weather through Apple's WeatherKit framework. Your use of Apple Weather data is subject to Apple's own privacy practices. WeatherDesk itself maintains no servers and transmits nothing to us.

6. Permissions

WeatherDesk requires only Location Services permission (When In Use), requested on first launch. It does not require Accessibility, Screen Recording, or Full Disk Access. Launch at login is managed through the standard macOS Login Items system and only after you enable it or on first launch; you can revoke it at any time in System Settings.

7. Changes & Contact

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page. Questions about this privacy policy? Please contact us.
